I’m Strat Mastoris, a designer and photographer based in Brighton.
I design lighting and stage sets for several fringe theatres around Brighton. I write about theatre too, mostly reviews for the online FringeReview website. You can read these, as well as other articles, on my writing site at www.stratmastoris.wordpress.com
I also carry out my own professional photographic work – I studied at Harrow School of Photography – and you can see examples of this on my photography site at www.stratmastorisphotography.com
I especially love lighting design ( as a photographer I understand where the shadows will fall ) and people seem to like my work – I’ve three times won ‘Best Lighting Design’ at the annual Brighton & Hove Arts Council Drama Awards.
In addition to this, I occasionally direct plays, for the New Venture Theatre in Brighton, so I’m able to see things with a director’s eye as well as simply a designer’s. Over the past few years I have directed –
Caryl Churchill’s – ‘A Number’ and ‘Seven Jewish Children’ Jean Genet’s – ‘The Maids’ and ‘Deathwatch’ A R Gurney’s – ‘Love Letters’.
